Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference Highlights
Microsoft the ERP Developer with a Solid Future

With close to 8,000 attendees, the Worldwide Partner Conference (WPC) 2004 held in Toronto earlier this month was a tremendous success. The combined group of Microsoft employees and Microsoft Partners from all seven business groups, including Microsoft Business Solutions, was so large that all General Sessions and Keynote addresses were held in the Air Canada Center, home of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Raptors.

In his keynote address on the last day of the conference, Microsoft Corporation CEO Steve Ballmer reiterated many of the themes of the conference including Microsoft’s strong results for fiscal year 2004 and Microsoft’s commitment to the future of its products. (More on Microsoft’s commitment to the future generation of ERP solutions in next month’s newsletter.)

Mr. Ballmer specifically noted the unparalleled success internationally of the Danish Business Solutions applications Navision and Axapta. In some countries, these products enjoy the lion’s share of the market in small, mid and upper mid-sized companies.

Other highlights of WPC include Keynotes by top Microsoft Executives such as Orlando Ayala, Senior VP Small & Midmarket Solutions, and Doug Burgum, Senior VP Microsoft Business Solutions Business Group. Additionally, there were over 100 intensive breakout sessions focusing in areas such as Microsoft Business Solutions, Business Leadership and Security.

The Global Partner Awards Ceremony hosted by SNL’s Darrell Hammond and the closing night’s celebration featuring Pat Benetar, were among the evening highlights rounding out the event.
